History

The idea of creating the Mini Piano project roots back to the year 2010, when one of the mums in Chislehurst asked me to try piano lessons with her 3 years old daughter.

Those first lessons had a great success and soon I had several little pupils, who enjoyed being little pianists.

In 2012 I expanded my business and became a music teacher in a local Christ Church Pre-school in Chislehurst where I successfully worked until my last pregnancy in 2019. I absolutely enjoyed sharing love and passion to music with little ones.

When my little son used to go to Mead Road Infant school, I worked as a voluntary music teacher in Reception class and music lessons there were a huge success.

Every day (except Sundays) children and adults occupy my classroom and catch up on music education.

Lessons

Individual Lessons:

  • 1:1 tuition
  • Preparation for ABRSM exams
  • Christmas Piano Recital and End of Year Concert

They are thoroughly planned and every activity has its reason so children always learn something specific through it. Children listen to classical and modern music, they work with apps, learn what an improvisation is, learn music theory, take part in a paper theater performance, play piano solo and in a duet with the teacher, they sing songs, learn scales, do finger exercises, play tambourine and castanets and get ready for very important official grades (if they want it). They are always praised for their achievements with stickers and treats before Christmas and get a very special Mini Piano Certificate at the end of the school year because they really deserve it!

Music Lessons for nurseries, preschools and schools:

The planning for this type of lessons is essential. Working in groups of 30 children can be really fascinating, but teacher should definitely be a real musical guru, therefore every lesson by Mini Piano is an exciting journey into the Kingdom of Music. Group Lessons are not just entertainment. They are a mixture of musical fun and solid approach to learning musical basics in an easy and adapted way, developing musical abilities and creating a musical taste in little children. Children listen to classical and modern music, learn music theory, take part in a paper theater performance, do finger exercises, improvise with toy instruments, have facial yoga exercises and learn what an opera, a ballet or a symphonic fairytale is. They get to know such famous composers as Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart, Prokofiev and many more. And they love their music! At the end of the school year every child attending music lessons gets a very special Mini Piano Certificate.

Classroom

The classroom for private lessons is equipped with the digital piano (Casio Privia), big board with learning materials, computer, tablet, acoustic system, other musical instruments and (of course!) hand sanitiser.

Philosophy

Quality musical education should be affordable for little children. Every parent would like his or her child to try a musical instrument as early as possible, but many of us can’t even start with it because of unaffordable prices and huge commitment required from the very beginning (which inevitably means pushing our loved ones, which can end up with hate to music from their childhood). We want our children to enjoy musical education in a sensible way. That’s the reason why Mini Piano was created and one of its mottoes is “Affordable quality musical education for little children”.

DBS

The teacher at Mini Piano is DBS checked and works as a self-employed music teacher.

Profile

My name is Olga and I’m founder of the Mini Piano project.

Music was always part of my life.

I was born in a family where my dad played piano and accordion. I was always exposed to music.

Being a little girl at the nursery I was always presenting it on concerts in bigger schools or in local events singing songs solo or in a duet.

At the age of 6 I started playing piano and had an intensive piano course with 4 hours practical training and 2 hours theory training a week at one of the music schools abroad. I spent there 7 years and graduated with the pianist diploma.

After graduating from the university with the foreign languages teacher diploma I relocated to the UK and since then I have been working as a translator from English, Polish and German to Russian.

After having a baby in 2010 I started teaching music for little children with the focus on the piano. Gradually I expanded my one-to-one lessons to group lessons at pre-schools and primary schools and the age of my pupils stretched from 2.5 years to 40 years old.
